    Men and women both raised their waistlines and wore slashed sleeves and tall hats with brims. Around the 1650s women started wearing loose sleaves that ended just below their elbows. A long neckline and dropping shoulders. In the early 1600s, hair was worn in a bun at the back of the head with a cluster of curls framing the face.     Wigs remained essential for men of substance, and were often white; natural hair was powdered to achieve the fashionable look.In the early years of this period, black silk hoods and dark, somber colors became fashionable at the French court for mature women, under the influence of Madame de Maintenon. For younger women they wore bright colors. They preffered solid colors

    Fashion became more complexe. They started as a simple dress and they statted useing firmer fabrics and and hems were added down the center. They added emphasis on the sleeves adding attention to their shoulders. Then they went into a gothic stage and started making the sleevs less emphisized and tighter on their arms.

    The cage crinoline or hoop came in and help take off some of the weight from the layers that ladies had on. The hoop became an oval, which turned into a back bustel. The bustel began to fade away and sleeves began getting longer and larger.

    Ladies wore any fullness in the skirt that was below the knee. They dropped the hight of the waist and made the dresses simpler. They began make skirts and the waistline returned to it normal poition.

    Women were wearing stiletto heels, wrist- length gloves and full skirts.Even working women's outfits had hints of fragility, with pencil skirts and little hats with veil and feathers.False eyelashes soon became a new craze and hair was a variety of lengths and styles.Colours and tones were mainly focused on.Shoulders became big and faded. Then silhouette became cool.
