F.W. Woolworth had opened up his first store in New York in 1879. After F.W. Woolworth's death in 1919, there were over 1,000 stores. In 1970, Woolworth became the largest chain of department stores with more than 4,000 stores. -

George Eastman was very important in the photography business. He invented the roll film in 1883 and the Kodak camera in 1888. With the invention of that, it helped photography become more advanced. -

Ottmar Mergenthaler invented the linotype composing machine in 1886. The linotype allows someone to be a typefounder, typesetter, type-distributor, machinist, and justifier. It was the greatest printing advancement since 400 years earlier.
