The inventor the electric light, was Humphry Davy. While the first light bulb was created by Henry Woodard and Matthew Evans, which was soon passed down to Thomas Edison who improved upon it.

Materials Used in First Design and Improvements on Design
The materials used originally included an electric battery for power, carbon rods, electrodes, and glass cylinders. Later when the light bulb was patented to Thomas Edison, he used a carbonized bamboo filament which increase the time.

Florescent overtakes Incandescent
The age of florescent light made producing light easier, it is a low pressure mercury-vapor gas-discharge lamp that uses electricity to ignite the gas and produce light.Incandescent light used a wire filament to create light by heating it to a high temperature. Though incandescent light was supposed to be an improvement, florescent light was used because of the need of efficient light.Furthermore, these were a step up from the original light bulb.

LED Lights
LEDs, or light–emitting diodes, are semiconductor devices that produce light when an electrical current passes through it. LEDs differ from incandescent and florescent(CFL) by LEDs being more durable, longer lasting, and more efficient. Also, these lights have different colors, and they are very tiny which make them efficient.

Over the years...
Over the years, the light bulb has been improved to make the light bulb more efficient, affordable, etc. Also, light bulbs have been created that last longer and use less energy which are LED bulbs.

The Light Bulb's "Siblings"
The original light bulb has been improved upon throughout many years, it started off with creating lighting in a tube, and then there were florescent lights, incandescent lights, LED's, CEL's, CFL's etc. Each step of the way of these different light-bulbs was to improve the affordability, use, energy, efficiency.

The primary consumers of the light bulb is basically everyone around the world. Furthermore, more developed countries uses light bulbs because they can afford it, also mining companies, snorkelers, and discoveries for different things use light bulbs.
