    Common schools was made for the community that had money. It was founded in the Massachusetts broad of education in the 1837. Also, girls were finally aloud to go to school but they needed to pay extra than the boys.

  • Compulsory School

    Compulsory School

There are certain exceptions, most notably homeschooling, but virtually all states have mandates for when children must begin school and how old they must be before dropping out. Typically, children must start school by the age of six. These laws were put in place not only to improve literacy rates but also to discourage the widespread child labor practices.

    This was a big event because the Supreme Court was fighting for the segregation of the public schools for children. Brown vs. Board was one of the civil right movement. It was also for being able to mixed all colors in one school so they wont be separated anymore.

  • No Child Left Behind

    No Child Left Behind
    No Child Left Behind (NCLB) supported standards-based education reform, built on the philosophy that setting high standards and establishing measurable goals for schools would improve individual outcomes for public school students. The legislation required states to develop standardized tests and to give these assessments to all students at certain designated grade levels in order to receive federal funding.
