    On May 7th, 1919 María Eva Duarte was born. Authough, her birth certificate mistakenly says she was born on May 7th, 1922. Evita was born in Los Toldos, Argentine. She was the youngest of five children in her family. Her siblings were, Juan Ramón Duarte, Erminda Ibarguren, Blanca Ibarguren, and Elisa Ibarguren. She had one brother and three sisters.

    Evita grew up poor, dreaming of becoming an actress someday. She acted in her school play “Students Arise”, in October of 1933. Soon after that, she realized that she wanted to grow up and start an acting career. She and her siblings would put on little performances for their family to enjoy every now and then.

    Evita Peron moved to Buenos Aires to become an actress at the age of 15. Later on, in 1937 she got her first film role in “Segundos Afuera” and got a contract to perform on the radio. Over the next few years she continued to work in stage productions.

    In January 1944, an earthquake in San Juan, Argentina killed about 10,000 people. The military colonel Juan Peron, organized a fundraiser to help the victims of the earthquake. Evita was invited to attend, being an actress and radio show host. So, she met her future husband at the fundraiser’s gala, located at Luna Park Stadium. At that time Evita was in her mid twenties and Juan was in his late forties but, regardless of their ages they got married on October 22nd, 1945.

    Evita believed that all women should have the right to vote. She gave radio addresses wrote articles and made speeches at rallies supporting women's suffrage. Even though some people argue that her real political power has been exaggerated, she still succeeded her goal. Argentina’s Senate approved the women’s suffrage bill in 1946, and it became a law in 1947, making legal for women to vote and run for office.

    Evita’s husband Juan Peron became president of Argentina on June 4th, 1946. When Juan became president of Argentina, Evita became a strong political leader. She used her advantage of being the first lady to become a very strong political leader, because she believed in Women's suffrage and improving the lives of the poor. Throughout her political career she supported law-making events, that would improve currency and some conditions, of Argentina’s poorest workers.

    In 1947 Evita went on a “Rainbow Tour” in Europe, for a political purpose. As a part of the tour she went many places. She went to Spain, Rome, France, and Switzerland. While she was on tour she met a number of important people too.

    Maria Eva Duarte de Peron Foundation

    On July 8th, 1948 Evita confirmed the Maria Eva Duarte de Peron Foundation. The foundation served poor elderly people and children. She operated it from 1948 to 1955. Some of the foundation’s goals were to help with money managing, scholarships to gifted children from poor backgrounds, build homes, schools, hospitals, and orphanages in needy areas.

    Evita Peron died at 8:25 P.M. on July 26th of 1952. She died of advanced cervical cancer at the age of 33 years old, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Where her body laid, at the Ministry of Labor building, there were multiple lines that stretched around city blocks, made up of people waiting to see Evita’s coffin.
