    Germany Invaded Poland
    Germany invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939. The Soviet Union & Germany signed a nonaggression pact on August 23rd, which told that Poland would be split between the two nations. A policy of Hitler coming to power included signing a nonaggression pact with Poland in January 1934. Many Germans didn't agree & thought that he shouldn't do so. Years passed and came the time where Germany attacked Poland without the fear of the Soviet Intervention. Within weeks, the Polish army had been defeated.

    Britain and France Declare War on Germany
    Britain & France declared war on Germany on September 3rd, 1939. A speech was given in Westminster, London by the British Prime Minister, representing both nations. The day after the speech was given, Britain and France began bombing German ships which caused significant loss to Germany's attacking force. They were told not to attack the German civilians, but the German military had no such restrictions. Two weeks following, France began an offensive attack against Germany's Western Border.

    Operation Sea Lion, was a code name for Nazi Germany’s plan of invasion within the United Kingdom during the Battle of Britain. Operation Sea Lion was depended on if not Nazi Germany’s air force could defeat the RAF. Due to the failure of defeation, the operation was cancelled, which was announced on September 17th, 1940.

    Churchill becomes Prime Minister of Britain
    Churchill became the Prime Minister of Britain on May 10th, 1940. He was declared Prime Minister in the UK and revealed his bold plans for British resistance, saying “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat”. Within the first year of Churchill’s administration, Britain stood alone against Germany. He had promised his nation and the world that Britain would not back down against Germany, and they never did. At the end of the war, Churchill proudly led Britain to victory.

    Evacuation of Dunkirk ( Operation Dynamo )
    The Dunkirk Evacuation, code-named as Operation Dynamo, was the flea of many Allied soilders during the Second World War, from the beaches of Dunkirk, Northern France. This evacuation happened between May 26th - June 4th, 1940. The battle of Dunkirk was an evacuation to Britain for British and other allied forces in Europe. Around 350,000 British, French and Belgian troops escaped Dunkirk, which allowed Allies to continue the war and major boosts were added to the British morale.

    Italy Enters War on Side of Axis Power
    On June 10th, 1940 Italy entered World War 2 on the Axis Side, as the defeated France became apparent. Since declaring War on France and Great Britain on June 10th, Italy didn’t go to war until June 20th when Italian troops were being mobilized in South-West of France, in which the French easily held them at bay by their forces. The reaction to Italy declaring war included, all Italians that lived in Britain less that 20 years and were within the ages of 16 - 70 were immediately interned.

    On June 22nd, 1940 the Armistice was signed by Nazi officials and the French Third Republic, although it did not come into action until after midnight on June 25th. France decided to end their battle and give in to Germany by signing the Armistice. The Battle of France only lasted from May 10th - June 25th 1940.

    The Battle of Britain was a military campaign, where the Royal Air Force defended the United Kingdom, during the Second World War. They were used to fight against large-scale attacks by Nazi Germany’s air force, the Luftwaffe. A significant turning point, during World War 2 was when the German’s Luftwaffe failed to gain enough power over the Royal Air Force, despite being able to target their air bases and military posts. Britain’s victory saved the country from a ground invasion and occupation.

    The Siege of Tobruk took place from April 10th - 27th November 1941 and lasted 241 days. This Siege was due to the Axis forces proceeding through Cyrenaica, Libya during the Western Desert Campaign in the Second World War. The Nations that were involved in the siege included the United Kingdom, Nazi Germany, Australia, Italy, British Raj and the Czechoslovak Government.

    Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa was a code name for the Axis Invasion of the Soviet Union by Germany during the Second World War. The Invasion took over a number of places including Poland, Ukraine, Eastern Europe, Belarus, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova and the Polish Republic. It was the biggest military adventure of time in history and led to the downfall of Adol Hitler's due to Germany loss to the Soviet Union.

    Bombing of Pearl Harbor
    The bombing of Pearl Harbor was on the Hawaiian Territory by the Japanese Navy Air Service. It was a surprise military attack against the United States naval base on the morning of December 7th, 1941. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, a speech was presented by President Roosevelt showing that there is a state of war between the United States and Japan. Three days following the speech Germany and Italy declared war against the United States and they responded kindly.

    The United States Congress and Britain declared war on Japan, in response to their surprise attack on British Forces in Malaya, Singapore, and Pearl Habor. It was presented by US President, Franklin Roosevelt, a day after the attacks.

    The Battle of Stalingrad was the largest confrontation during the Second World War, in which Germany and their allies fought the Soviet Union for the control of the city in Southern Russia. The battle began during the year of 1942 and finished on February 2nd, 1943. The outcome of this event includes the destruction of the German 6th Army and decisive Soviet victory.

    From 1942 - 1945, Military forces of Japan defeated the combined British, Indian, Australian and Malayan garrisons in the Battle of Singapore. The Battle of Singapore, also known as the Fall of Singapore was the Japanese invaded the British headquarters within Singapore. The outcome of this event was the Japanese having victory against Singapore and taking the occupation of the land.

    The Battle of Midway was a naval battle between the United States Navy and the Japanese in the Pacific Theater of World War Two. This occurred from June 4th - June 7th, 1942, only six months after Japan attacked Pearl Habor's front. The location of this attack was in Midway Atoll, the United States, and the Americans decisive victory.

    First Battle of El Alamein
    The First Battle of El Alamein was a battle of the Western Desert Campaign of World War Two. It was fought in Egypt between Axis forces of the Panzer Army and Allied forces of the Eighth Army. The British had prevented the second advance by the Axis forces into Egypt. Although doing so, the Axis were dangerously close to the ports and cities of Egypt, however too far away from their closest base in Tripoli and forced them to accumulate supplies, against constraints of time and distance.

    The Second Battle of El Alamein was a battle in World War Two and took place on the runway halt of El Alamein and went from October 10th - November 11th, 1942. With having the Allies victorious, it was the watershed for the Western Desert Campaign. The First Battle had prevented the Axis from advancing further into Egypt and gave the Allies chances to expand their forces. It was a huge turning point, as it ended the fight and was the only land battle won by the British & Commonwealth forces.

    The Normandy Landings, also known as D-Day landings were the landing operations of the Allied invasions during Operation Overlord on June 6th, 1944 during the Second World War. It was code-named Operation Neptune or referred to as D-Day, was the largest seaborne invasion in history.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    The Battle of the Bulge was the last major German offense campaign on the Western Front during World War Two. It occurred within the Ardennes, which include Belguim, Luxembourg, and Germany. The battle was an attempt to push the Allied front line west from the northern side of France to the northwestern side of Belguim. Due to this battle, an end came to the German army and Nazi reign.
  • Mussolini Captured and Executed

    Mussolini Captured and Executed
    In Giuliano, Italy, Mussolini, was a former dictator of Italy and was established by the German Allies as the figurehead of a government in northern Italy during German's occupation. Not wanting to fall into the wrong hands, and knowing that the British and Americans would take him in as a war criminal, Mussolini decided to try and cross the Swiss border by disguising himself but failed and was shot, his body traveled to Milan and was hung upside down and displayed.

    Adolf Hitler was a German politician, leader of the Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany from 1933 - 1945. It was reported that he killed himself by swallowing a cyanide capsule and then following a single gunshot to the head on the 30th of April, 1945, in his Führerbunker in Berlin. Soon after Hitler's death, the German's surrendered to the Allied forces, which ended Hitler dream of a "1,000-year" Reich.

    On May 7th, of 1945, all German officials surrendered to the Allied forces, bringing an end to the European conflict during the Second World War. Representing the German's High Command, Alfred Jodl, signed the surrender of both Germany's east and west forces in Reims, France, which would take effect the following day.

    On June 26th, 1945, the United Nations Charter was effective and prepared to be enforced. The United Nations was put into place due to the ineffective League of Nations, the organization was created on the 24th of October, 1945, following the Second World War, with the aim of preventing any other conflict. At the beginning of the United Nations, they only had 51 state members; and now they have 193.

    On the 8th of May, 1945, V.E Day or also known as Victory in Europe Day, is celebrated to mark the formal acceptance from the Allies during World War Two of Nazi Germany's surrender of all its armed forces. The observers of this celebration are France, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Europe.

    On August 6th, 1945, the American 5-ton bomber, Enola Gay was dropped over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. An American statesman, President Harry Truman, warned some of his advisors that any attempt to invade the Japanese would create in deadly and horrific casualties for the Americans. He requested that there be a new, stronger weapon that could be used to bring the World War to a speedy end.

    On the 8th of August, 1945, the Soviet foreign minister Molotov informed a Japanese ambassador that the Soviet Union had declared war on the Empire of Japan. He made it clear that from August 9th the Soviet Government would consider themselves to be at war with the Japanese.

    Atomic Bomb Dropped on Nagasaki
    On the 9th of August, 1945, a second bomb was dropped on the Japanese by the United States, in Nagasaki. This resulted in Japan's surrender from World War Two. The devastation that ripped through Hiroshima was not sufficient enough to convince the War Concil to accept the Conference's demand for them to surrender. It was only three days after the first bombing by the Americans in Hiroshima that they decided to drop another one in Nagasaki.

    On August 15th, during 1945, the surrender of the Japanese was announced and formally signed on September the 2nd. which brought all the hostilities of the Second World War to an end. After the defeated Japanese state surrendered from the Second World War, the United States led the Allies into the occupation of Japan. From 1945 - 1952, the United States forces, enacted a widespread military, political, economic and social reforms.
