  • Spark- Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord- Includes primary source
    The British marched to Lexington to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock and marched to Concord to seize the colonists' gunpowder and arms. Before the soldiers got their, the info of the british coming leaked out and Paul Revere went to warn the colonists' minutemen/militia. Before the british arrived the colonists were waiting, but nobody knows who fired the first shot. #Shot heard 'round the world
  • First-Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill Primary source Wrong Hill The Americans/colonists occupied breed's hill in Charlestown to protect the nearby shipyard of Boston. The Americans fired on the British the next day until they were out of ammo, then retreated. The British took the hill, but with many losses. Clnl. W. Prescott said to fire only when they see British eyes.

    Turning Point- Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga- Includes primary source French sides with America- This was the turnig point because it convinced France to side with America. British Gen J. Burgoyne came up with a brilliant plan to take New York for Britain, but his plan failed due to no communication and was stopped by Benedict Arnold. During the actual Battles of Saratoga, Burgyne surrendered most of his army and France started sending troops and ships to help America.

    Government- Articles of Confederation

    Atricles of Confederation- Primary Source
    Articles of Confederation Colonial gov. unified- They were written to give the colonies a form of unified gov. Once the 13 colonies became states, each one began to act on it's own. They went into effect after all 13 states ratfied it, making states and legislatures supreme. Later, after it became weak a new constitution was written.

    Low Point-Valley Forge

    Valley Forge- Also primary source-#Survival in harsh conditions- Valley Forge was a camp George Washington and his men stayed in the winter of the R. War. G. W., who had been leading the continental army, was forced to move out of Philadelphia. Soldiers died from the cold, sickness, and lack of supplies and many left camp, but G.W. stayed to fight the War with the remaining soldiers. It's the low point because it was the most unsuccessful event.

    Last- Yorktown

    Yorktown'
    Yorktown primary source America's victory- The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle fought in the Revolutionary War. It was near the seacoast of Virginia. At the battle, British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered his army to General George Washington. The Americans had won their last battle.

    Resolution-Treaty of Paris of 1783
    Treaty of Paris of 1783- Includes primary source Document that ended the war- The treaty that officially ended the war. It was signed by Ben Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay in Paris. Under the treaty's terms, Britain recognized the independence of the United States of America and agreed to remaove its troops from there. It also set new borders for the nation- all land from the Great Lakes to Florida, and the Atlantic R. to the Mississippi R.
