  • Lincoln's Plan

    Lincoln announces 10% plan, his method of readmitting states to the union. Radical Republicans in congress are shocked at the leniency of Lincoln's plan.

  • Wade-Davis Bill

    Congress passes the Wade Davis bill, another plan for readmitting states to the Union. Radical Republicans are outraged when Lincoln vetoes the plan.

  • Lincoln gets shot

    When Lincoln is assassinated, he is replaced by Andrew Johnson who brings a whole new approach to reconstruction.

  • "Restoration"

    Johnson issues his own, very lenient plan for reconstruction that is similar in ways to Lincoln's plan.

  • Joint Committee of Reconstruction

    The Joint Committee of Reconstruction is created, beginning the era of "radical reconstruction"

  • First Civil Rights act and 14th amendment are introduced

  • Military Reconstruction Acts Passed

  • Texas is the last seceded state to rejoin the Union
