Tris Escapes Prison
After Tris and Tobias leaked the video sent from the outside world, Tris was confined for being a traitor, along with her friends, Christina and Cara. Tris escapes by lying under the truth serum to devoid her friends and her from suspicious status. Tris is exonerated on page 14, with her friends to shortly follow. -

Tris and Friends Join Allegiant
Allegiants revealed their existence by kidnapping Tris and asking her to join them. They're a group rebelling against Evelyn's control, and strive to see the outside world. Tris is convinced, and she brings her friends and devises a plan with the Allegiants starting on page 60. -

Tori is Killed
Tori, whom was familiar with even before the faction ceremony, was shot dead. This becomes even more tragic when this story reveals that Tori's brother was alive, waiting for her at the Bureau of Genetic Welfare. Tori is shot in chapter 11, page 92. -

The Bureau Locates Allegiant Party
While Tris, Tobias, Christina, Uriah, Cara, and Peter are walking through desolate ruins that were once a modern town, a truck approaches them and stop. The driver is shortly revealed to be a Bureau agent named Zoe, and the passenger is Amar, Tobias's former Dauntless leader who was considered dead. This all happens during chapter 13, page 104, and the Allegiants are shortly escorted to the Bureau afterwards. -

The Wall Explodes, killing Uriah
Once reaching the Bureau, Tris and her party learn that their city was one of many experiments meant to contain genetic damage. Tobias chooses to help Nita, who Tris doesn't trust, in stealing memory serum from the Bureau. While Tris is trying to stop Nita's plan, she narrates, "I'm just passing the security checkpoint when I see the wall next to Uriah explode" (Roth, 2013, p. 282). Uriah remains in a coma for the majority of the book, until eventually being let go. -

Tris is Promoted
Because Tris opposed Nita in her attempt to steal death serum--not memory serum, as she said--David, the head of the Bureau, called her to his office on page 319. David praises Tris for her bravery, and admits that he would like her opinion during council meetings. Tris agrees to join, as she might learn some important information. -

First Council Meeting
Ever since David promoted Tris, she and her friends have been devising a plan to expose the government "for what they really are." Their initial plan was to make them take an enhanced truth serum, but on page 376, David reveals that he plans to "use the memory serum virus for a mass reset" (Roth, 2013, p. 250). With David planning to all of the experiments, Tris realizes they need a different plan to save Chicago. -

Tobias and his Mother Reunite
The plan is to have Caleb, Tris's brother, to retrieve the memory serum from the vaulted weapons lab, so they may wipe the memory of anyone affiliated with the Bureau. Before that, Tobias entered Chicago to stop his parents from warring against each other. In the process, he convinces his mother that her family is more important than the war, and they reconcile on page 467. -

Tris Dies
While Tobias is reconciling, Tris is taking Caleb's in breaching the fault, because the vault has a secuirty measure that releases death serum, and Tris would rather risk her own life than her brothers. She astonishingly survives the serum, but David waits for her exist and raises his gun. Tris blames David, confesses to the plan, and detonates the memory serum. David shoots Tris on page 474, and she sees her mother one last time before accepted her embrace. -

Aftermath
The council's memory has been wiped, but Tobias's soul has been crushed from the news. He went back to Chicago, and would have erased his memory if Chrisina didn't find him. Now two years have passed, and Tobias's heart slowly mends as he lives a peaceful life in Chicago, filled his genetic damage, genetic purity, and his friends.
