    Ancient Greece(BC)

    It was a Greek Civilezation that belonged to Archaic from the 8th to 6th Centruy BC. They had advances in art poetry, and technology. Then the Polis was invented and that became the Greek political life. They had a monarchy type of Government.

    Ancient Rome (BC)

    After 450 years as a Republic, it became a empire then the wake of Julius Ceaser rise and fall. Then came Augustus adn he started a golden age of peace and prosperity. They used a lot of types of government.

    Magna Carta

    It was imposed upon a King of England by a group of his subjects to limit his powers by law and protect their right. No "free-man" could be punished by the law of land. Also it affected the government becasue if they didn't do that then the King would have risen up and had supreme power over England if no one stepped up.
  • Mayflower Compact

    It made it so they could create their own type of government in their colony. Also they made their own laws and rights about what people could do. Lastly they chose their own people to run the government. It had affected the government becasue if Enlgand didnt make that document the government would have been controlled from England.
  • Thomas Hobbes (Leviathan, 1651)

    His writing included the social contract. Its an agreement on the fact that in order for the individuals to protect their natural rights. Also to agree with the government and live under the government.
  • John Locke (Two Treatises on Government, 1689)

    The first treastise states that it was an arguement because Robert Filmer says that evert man is born a slave to the natural born kings. Locke states that every man has the right to govern him/her self under God's Law
    The second treastise states that Locke thinks the laws only work becasue people think they are good for the public.
    This influenced the government because it might make the government realize they are making mistakes
  • English Bill of rights

    It lays down limits of powers in the Crown. It also sets out rights of Parliament and also the right to petition against the monarch. This had affected the government because if they didn't write this document then all the Kings would ave had to much power and would have possibly changed the way the colonists lived.
  • Jean-Jacques Rousseau (The Social Contract, 1692)

    He believed that the government should be freely formed by the people of the public. He also believed that government needs to have consent from the people as well. One of his other important beliefs were that all men are creaed equal. This influenced the government because before the africas were put behind the wites but now we are all created equal
  • Baron de Montesquieu (On the Spirit of Laws, 1748)

    He wanted and believed in the separation of powers for the government among the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. This would protect the people against tyranny. This influenced the government because we needed to be protected against tyranny.
  • Voltaire (Treatise on Tolerance, 1763)

    He strongly beleived in the freedom of speech and that all men are created equal. This influenced the government because they cpuld have agreed with him and made it so they could do those things
  • Cesare Beccaria (On Crime and Punishment, 1764)

    He shared beliefs people's experiences on trial, He said that individuals should receive a speedy trial and be free from torture. Lastly he states that people's punishment should be the severity of the crime they committed.
  • First Continental Congress

    It was called "The passage of Coervice Acts," and it punished the Boston Tea Party. Economic boycott of British trade; rights and grievances; and petitioned King George III for redress of those grievances.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Managed the colonial war effort, and moved encrementally towards independence. raising armies, directing strategy, appointing diplomats, and making formal treaties. Also it acted as the national government which became U.S.
  • Declaration of Independence

    It was written because ot showed expalained why colonies wanted independence from the king of England. It influenced the government by separating the colonies from the British Empire.
  • Articles of Confederation

    It was written after it declared indepndence from Great Britain. Established a weak central government that mostly, but not entirely, prevented the individual states from making their own foreign dimplomacy.
  • Treaty of Paris

    A treaty by King George to end the representatives to end the Marican Revolutionary War. It was good because if the war would have kept going there would have been more conflict.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    It was a huge violent rebellion in Massaschusetts when taxes were raised then a bunch of angry farmers and stormed into courthouse. They were mad becasue there goods were taxed even more than before. After that incident they lowered the prices
  • Philadelphia Convention (Constitutional Convention)

    Deleagated from all states discussed problems that were wrong with the Articles of Conferderation. After they discussed they realized there were a lot of things wrong so they made a new form of government from it. This influenced the government becasue if they didn't discuss the Articles we would have promblems with it now.
