One day, Sheila insists on trying something on, although her mother and the assistant are against it. The dress doesn't suit her at all. Sheila sees Eva trying the dress on herself and she realizes that it suits perfect on her. Because of this situation, she gets jealous and furious. Then she has a discussion with the assistant and tells her that if they don't fire Eva, she would never go to there anymore. This is the reason why Eva is sacked from Milwards.

After losing her job at Mildwards because of Sheila’s jealousy, she changes her name to Daisy Renton in order to look for a new beginning.

Gerald gets to know Daisy in the palace music hall in Brumley, after he had a long dull day. They like each other.

At the beginning, Daisy started living in one of Charlie Brunswick’s rooms and keeping them clean to earn some money. But eventually she becomes Gerald’s mistress.

Gerald must go away for several weeks (on business) so he breaks it off.

Eva, now called Daisy, decides to leave the town and go away to some seaside place, just to remember what happened between her and Gerald, and to make it last longer.

Eva and Eric meet at the palace bar. Eric invites Daisy for a few drinks and then they go to her lodgings.

Eric sees her again at the palace bar. They talk more about their lives and make love again. They keep seeing each other more often and Daisy gets pregnant.

Eva, under the name of Mrs. Birling, asks Eric’s mother for support because she was pregnant. Birling’s wife, head of a charitable organization for women, refuses Eva’s request, alleging that all the issue was a fraud and a gross impertinence.

While the Birlings are having dinner, Eva ingests a good deal of disinfectant, committing suicide and ending her suffering.
