Ernest Nagel Origins
Ernest Nagel was born November 16th, 1901 in Nove Mesto nad Vahom, or modern day Slovakia. We was born to two Jewish parents, whom then moved their family to America in 1911. By 1919, Ernest Nagel was a U.S. Citizen. -
Professional Career
Though Ernest Nagel taught in several different establishments, he is most known for his teachings at Columbia University from 1931 to 1970. He is also one of the few philosophers to be selected to be apart of the National Academy of Sciences. -
Structure of Science and More
Ernest Nagel wrote a plethora of books, including Gödel Proof, Theory of Probability, and Determinism of History. However his most prominent book was the Structure of Science. Here we wrote about four different types of scientific interpretation; probablistic, teleogical, and deductive and genetic. We published The Structure of Science in 1961, and had several revisions. -
Death
Ernest Nagel died September 20th, 1985 at 84 years old in New York City of Pneumonia. -
