the crisis is between the relationship of Joe (trusting) that his mom will come over to tend to his needs – not rushing over creates (mistrust) with Joe that his mom doesn’t care for his needs and begins losing confidence in her. -
Intimacy vs. Isolation Joe Snuffy Moves Out

Joe (age 20) decides to move out of his parent’s house to live a girl he has seen for a year and wishes to pursue the relationship further because he feels like this is the “one”.
In Erikson's sixth stage, Intimacy vs. Isolation,
the crisis is between the pursuit of a happy relationship with this new individual (intimacy) in hopes of something long term to create with vs. staying home forever (Isolation) and not pursuing a chance of love. -

Joe (age 73) is retired and knows he made some bad choices shutting out family because they didn’t support his early marriage but he looks at photos of his kids and wife and is content with his actions.
In Erikson’s eighth stage, Ego Integrity vs. Despair
the crisis is between being satisfied with his decisions despite early family conflict(ego integrity)and wishing to be able to go back and make peace with his family, but realizing that time has passed and it didn't happen(despair)
