    The start of this process involved submitting my proposal with the main aims being investigating how I can use my degree in education to find meaningful employment

  • Graduate Applications Workshop

    Attended workshop on Graduate Applications with the Aims:
    • Awareness of different types of application
    • Increased understanding of employer expectations
    • Have the tools and knowledge to prepare effective applications
    Key Points: Thoroughly research company and Job applying for to gain better understanding. Use the STAR model to answer competency based questions
  • Graduate CV workshop

    The main aim of the graduate CV workshop, I found was it enabled me to have the tools and knowledge to write a good graduate CV. It is important not to keep re-writing the CV for every opportunity but it should be continually reviewed and updated. The 5 golden rules of writing a CV are:
    1) No more than 2 sides of A4
    2) Consistency – grammar, headings
    3) Most recent events come first
    4) Most relevant information takes up the most space
    5) Organise information into sections

  • Second Mentor Meeting

    • Discussion of role as Educational recruitment consultant applied for. Skills needed for the role, experience etc.
    • Networking with contacts in schools and Durham city council.
    • Analysing CV to ensure it presents myself in the best way possible. SWOT Analysis
  • Practice Assessment Centre Workshop

    The aims of the session were:
    • Enable you to prepare effectively.
    • to Increase your understanding of assessment centres and why employers use Carried out a range of practical activities like would find in centre. To prepare for practise assessment centres:
    • Watch the Assessment Centre DVD
    • Practice numerical and verbal reasoning tests
    • Arrange interview coaching
