Summer Reading in March Reading Program

  • Meet with Children's Librarian at Cragin Public Library

    Meet with Children's Librarian at Cragin Public Library
    Meet with Karen Guigno, Children's Librarian at Cragin Public Library, and explain the idea of holding an Online Summer Reading Program in the month of March, 2015. Students will use the same electronic format and receive prizes for reading 160 minutes. Discuss the possibility of ordering extra Summer Reading Prizes with money from the Friend's of Cragin fund, and holding on to the extra prizes until the program in March of 2015.
  • Meet with Reading Specialist and Principal

    Meet with Reading Specialist and Principal
    Discuss plans with Erin Hermann, Literacy Specialist, and Anne Watscon, Principal of Colchester Elementary School. Share details with them about the participation with Cragin Public Library to run a Summer Reading Program in the month of March.
  • Meet with PTO

    Meet with PTO
    Share with the PTO the idea for the Online Summer Reading Program that will take place during the long, cold month of March. Ask if extra Scholastic books could be purchased for this program when ordering books for the Online Summer Reading Challenge. These books are purchased every summer with Scholastic Dollars earned from the book fair run by the PTO twice a year.

    Meet with Karen Giugno, Children's Librarian at Cragin Memorial Library, to work on the details of the program: opening up the online reading program, distributing gifs, and advertising.
  • Design Online Flyer

    Online FlyerUsing S'more, develop an online flyer for the Digital Backpack and teachers. Give a paper copy to Jeff Chong, office secretary, to distribute copies to families who request a paper copy of announcements.
  • QR Posters

    QR Posters
    Create a QR Code poster. Bring to Office Max to have posters made. The cost is $5 each, and we would need 6 made to post in our school, at the library, and at the local grocery store. The cost can be paid for out of the Library Materials fund.
  • Begin Promotions

    Begin Promotions
    Begin promoting the event with classes that visit the library and during morning announcements.
