At age 17 is when Streb fell in love with the idea of dance and began dancing to whatever it was available where she lived and could afford.

Elizabeth Streb graduated from State University of New York at Brockport. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Modern Dance as well as a honorary doctorate. She also earned an honorary doctorate at Rhode Island College and received a Master of Arts in Humanities and Social Thought at New York University.

After graduating Streb, 22 years old, rode on her Honda 350 and went to San Francisco. There is where she took class with Margaret Jenkins Dance Company and San Francisco Ballet.

Took more classes with Alfredo Corvino Studio and Viola Farber Dance Company. She worked as a chef at Wild Mushroom to help pay her expenses.

When she returned to New York Elizabeth Streb created her first dance company called STREB/ Ringside. This is were all of her risky movements begins.

Streb received a whole bunch of awards and grants for her outstanding ideas of dance.

Streb received John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Award

Elizabeth Streb received two New York Dance and Performance (Bessie) Awards in 1988 and 1999

SLAM or (Streb Lab for Action Mechanics) was located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Her company moved to SLAM so they had more space to show Pop Action.

In 2012 London Olympics Streb was asked to help celebrate the games. Her dancers performed seven actions across various iconic landmarks. One performance being on the London Eye in particular. Another one walking down City Hall which was dedicated to Trisha Brown.

Streb releases her first book called "STREB: How to Become an Extreme Action Hero" in 2012 which then was made into a film documentary called "Born to Fly" by Catherine Gund.
