    Eleanor Roosevelt was born to Anna Hall Roosevelt and Elliot Roosevelt. Her father loved her dearly. Almost from this day, she was known for being an "unattractive child".

    At the age of five, she became a sister to Hall Roosevelt. Her parents were delighted given that they had expected a boy when Eleanor was born.

    Elliott Roosevelt, his loving and caring father, developed a drinking problem. He decided to live in a sanitarium in Virginia to try to cope with his alcoholism.

    At the age of 7, she had a new brother.

    A while after her father left, Anna became ill. Eleanor took care of her while she could, but a year after, when she was 8, Anna died.

    After the death of Elliott and Anna, her baby brother and her were alone. They were taken to live with their grandmother in Manhattan, who didn't appreciate them much.

    After the death of Anna, Elliott caught diphtheria and died as well.

    Within some few months, she had lost her brother, mother and father. Elliott had written Eleanor several letters from the sanitarium, which she carried for the rest of her life.

    Grandmother Hall decided to send Eleanor to boarding school in England. She decided to send Eleanor to Allenswood, an private academy for girls.

    Grandmother Hall decided that Eleanor had to be introduced to society, that she had to go to dances and parties to take her place in the social world.

    When she left Allenswood, she went to all the parties and dances, but being the caring young woman she was, she decided to work with poor children in New York Lower East Side.

    She fell in love with her fifth cousin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
  • Eleanor and Franklin get married.

    In autumn of 1903, Eleanor agreed to get married. They had the ceremony the following year.

    At the beginning of their life together, Mammá (as they called her), made all the decisions seeing as she paid for almost everything. She decided where they would live, the furniture of their house, and the discipline of their children.

    President Wilson thinks Franklin is suitable for the job.
