    Industrial Revolution
    started the Establishment of training schools, many being places around America and Europe. Before the industrial revolution, students were only taught the basic arithmetic concepts. Before the industrial revolution, only children from wealthy families would have the luxury of going to school. It changed after and became inclusive to all. The Industrial Revolution went until the 1840s
  • The first private normal school in the United States was founded

    Reverend Samuel Read Hall founded the first private normal school in the United States, the Colombian School in Concord, Vermont. Usually offered a two year course beyond the secondary level
  • Technology

    Technology
    technology has greatly expanded access to education, making almost every answer available to us by just clicking a few buttons.Technology is an amazing invention that can transform education in many ways, from making it easier for teachers to create instructional materials to enabling new ways for people to learn and work together. The first form of technology brought into classrooms were radios back in the 1920s
  • Brown V. Board of Education

    Brown V. Board of Education
    This was when segregation inside schools officially ended. A group of thirteen black students were the first to attend an all white school, in Little Rock Arkansas. The children went through a lot, including having acid and rocks thrown at them by fellow students and their parents during there time at the school.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik
    This brought on a time where science was well taught and became important in schools. Students got hands on experience in labs. The National Science Foundation invested in education and donated money to schools to further our understanding of science
  • Title IX

    Title IX
    Title IX applies to schools, local and state educational agencies, and other institutions that receive federal financial assistance from the Department. Title IX obligations are: recruitment, admissions, and counseling; financial assistance; athletics; sex-based harassment, which encompasses sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence; treatment of pregnant and parenting students; treatment of LGBTQ+ students; discipline; single-sex education; and employment.
  • FAFSA

    FAFSA
    The 1992 HEA reauthorization created the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which replaced the Common Financial Aid Form of 1986. The FAFSA became the only federal form for students to apply for federal financial aid. The financial aid provided by them allows many students to be able to attend college.
  • COVID

    COVID
    COVID made many people have to take online classes, and stunted a lot of younger kids social skills, as they did not get that environment around peers their age. Many students failed because they found online classes too difficult to focus on and couldn't get the help they needed outside of class. It has had a major effect on teachers, which didn't help the need for teacher crisis we are having right now
