This was the first special education law heard in the Supreme Court. Amy Rowley was a young girl who was given a sign language interpreter during her first year of schooling, then was told that she didn't need it because she did well enough in school. Her parents sued saying that she was being denied a FAPE. The Court ruled in favor of the school, that they did not need to provide such a service as appropriate under the law says that she is recieving such an education.
