    In the 1870s the annual funding allocated for schools by parliment exceeded £800,000. The 1870s education act stands as the very first piece legislation to deal specifically with the provision of education in Britain. Most importntly it demonstrates a commitment to povision on a national scale. The education act helped make new schools where they are needed but you had to pay. The education act started to help children learn and get education instead of them being sold by their parents

    Sunday school
    Sunday school started in 1780 but in victorian time it started in 1880. Sunday school is about christian history but they will still be writing and reading. Sunday school starts 9am to 11am. Sunday school is normaly for poor people

    Education became free in 1897 because some children couldn't afford to go to schools so they ended in a workhouse or could have lead to death.
  • Hitting students

    In victorian times teacher was allowed to hit students with a ruler or cane if they was being naughty. If you was being very naughty the punishment is worse but if you are being a naughty you would have been hit by a ruler by placing out your hand but this stopped in 1970s
