    People owned other people back in this time. Slaves had less than no rights and were treated horribly. Owners made them work for no benefits, and this was how things happened during this time period.

    This was one of the first trade systems ever established. It had 3 major locations of Africa, Europe, and America.Things were traded in exchange for other goods.

    13 colonies vs. Great Britain made up this war. The 13 colonies were tired of King George the 3rd and his tyranny. This led to the 13 colonies becoming their own place.

    This document was established for the colonies proclaiming they are free from Great Britain's rule. It was ratified on this date. This document has the majority of our rights that we have.

    Articles of Confederation

    The first constitution of the United States. Many people liked the rules, while others did not. Some people believed some people were getting more advantages than others, and that was the whole reason why they broke away from Great Britian.

    This was the set of rules that was laid out and guided how our country will work. This tells us everything about the branches and how we establishes an equal government. This also states the citizens rights.
  • Bill of Rights

    The constitution had a beginning part that established powers the people had. It includes the 10 Bill of Rights. These rights are powers that no one can take away from citizens.
  • Invention of the Cotton Gin

    The cotton gin is a machine that makes it easier to process cotton. Eli Whitney was the one that created the cotton gin. It helped make cotton which was the most important crop in the south.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase was the buying of the territory of Louisiana by the United States from Napoleon in 1803. In return for fifteen million dollars, or approximately eighteen dollars per square mile, the United States nominally acquired a total of 828,000 sq mi.

    Created by Robert Livingston in 1803. After multiple fails, Livingston hired Robert Fulton of France to help him finish the final pieces. People now had a faster way to travel on water by steam.

    Lewis and Clark were the leaders in an exploration that traveled from the Mississippi River to the Pacific coast and back. They got to explore the newly bought Louisiana Purchase land.

    This war was fought due to the disagreement in trade between America and Great Britain. American sailors were taken off their ships and forced to join the British Navy. Land and sea battles occurred

    Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in Great Britain, continental Europe, and the United States. There were 3 major ideas that changed during this time and they were (1) the invention of machines to do the work of hand tools, (2) the use of steam and later of other kinds of power, and (3) the adoption of the factory system.

    James Madison issued a policy that stated that North and South Americans were no longer open to colonization. This Doctrine was successful until about 1861, when the French leader tried to establish a monarchy in Mexico.

    The U.S government took away the homes of many Native Americans in the southeast. This forced them to move to the west of the Mississippi River. Many of them had to walk the whole way.

    Manifest destiny was a widely held cultural belief in the 19th-century United States that American settlers were destined to expand across North America. The Manifest Destiny increased goods and doubled the U.S.'s land area, services, and wealth.

    Pioneers pushed the American frontier further westward during the first century of the United States. Everyone wanted a piece of America's pie.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    An enslaved black man in Missouri. This was a very controversial court ruling. The U.S Supreme Court ruled that Congress had no power to ban slavery in the areas that were not yet slaves. This was one of the factors that led to the Civil War.

    North part of U.S vs. South part of U.S. The south wanted to become their own country and the north wanted everyone to stick together. Slavery was the driving force of this fight.
  • 13th Amendment- Abolition of Slavery

    The Senate passed the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States. This eventually lead to the abolishment of slavery. Abraham Lincoln signed the resolution that submitted the amendment to the states approval.
  • 14th Amendment- Equal Treatment Under the Law

    This granted citizenship and equal legal rights to anyone that was born in the United States. African Americans were included in this new Amendemnt .
  • 15th Amendment- Voting Rights for Black Men

    The right to vote did not matter what color you were. Former slaves could even vote from now on. This time period is referred to as Reconstruction.

    This was also known as the Great War. Most battles took place in Europe and the Middle East. Ferdinands death was the main spark of this war to begin.
  • 19th Amendment

    This gave the women the right to vote. This was a result from woman suffrage movement that took place in the 19th century. Men generally accepted that women should be protected from the evils of politics.

    America's Economy had been failing. No one was making any money to live off of. This affected the whole world.

    The New Deal was a group of different U.S. government programs that Franklin D. Roosevelt started to help recover from the problems that occurred during The Great Depression. The programs that the New Deal was best known for was the Social Security and the Tennessee Valley Authority.

    Just about every part of the world was included in this war. This was the Axis V.S Allies war. Adolph Hitler was the main reason this war begin.

    The Korean War was a war fought between North Korea and South Korea. The war began on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea following clashes along the border and rebellions in South Korea. There was no winner of this war, just a lot of victims.
  • Brown vs. Board of Education

    Court case about segregation in the United States public schools. United States schools should not be segregated, or separating blacks from whites.

    Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Mass protest put on by Civil Rights activists. Rosa Parks was one of the driving factors for this boycott. There was eventually no more segregation allowed in the bus systems.

    Vietnam War

    Southeast Asia conflict where North Vietnam wanted to reunite the country of the north and south under communism. South fought to keep this from happening.
  • "I Have a Dream" Speech

    Martin Luther King Jr. believed this powerful speech that we still refer to today. He spoke in Washington D.C. He spoke about how he wished for a better future for everyone, no matter what skin color that you were.
  • 9/11

    Al-Qaeda terriers group hijacked 4 airplanes in the United States. Two of the planes flew into the Twin Towers killing many. The third plane was flew into the Pentagon, and the final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. This was a horrific terrorist attack.
