Chanel moves to Paris and starts designing hats for friends. (A Brief History...) This is when she realizes that she belongs in a world of fashion. She then makes friends with artists and writers that are living in Paris. Her hat designs are clean and simple and are favored among young woman who are rejecting the elaborate hats that are in vogue. This is where she discovered her true talent that would spark her power. Opens First Shop
Chanel opens a hat shop on rue Cambon in Paris. She has a crisp white awning out the front of the shop with ‘Coco Chanel’ painted on it in black letters and this marks the beginning of the famous double ‘C’ Chanel logo, her unique signature logo. (A Brief History...) This was Chanel's one and only shop at the time, so woman traveled from all over just to buy one off the famous elegant Coco Chanel hats. On to War
With all of the men off at war, women had to take over the jobs. Realising that women now need to work, she designed simple, classic clothes that women can work and play in. (A Brief History...) With this strategy, her designs became very popular and well-liked. She quickly influenced the woman work fields and showed woman how to properly dress for work. -
Model
Around this time, Chanel designs one of the first 1920's drop-waist 'slack' dresses. She is becoming a fashion icon herself and young women are starting to copy her look - slim, elegant and youthful with short, neat hair and bright red lipstick. (A Brief History...) Women worldwide loved her sense of style, so much that Chanel became a fashion icon herself. She influenced women to copy her look because it was the popular way to look upon women. -
Chanel No.5
At age thirty-eight Chanel launched her most famous perfume – Chanel No.5. (A Brief History...) This instantly become a mega hit and everyone female wanted to wear this. This is and would be Coco Chanel's most famous line of perfume she'd create. She influenced women from all over to wear this perfume because it was "classy" and made you seem elegant and well put together. Her style influenced women worldwide. -
New Boutique
Chanel opens a boutique for her accessories, she is the first designer to make jewelry desirable and fashionable to woman. Chanel No.5 is established as the leading scent in the world. (A Brief History...) With everything that she touched turning into gold, she was very successful and influenced woman all over to now start wearing designer jewelry. Before Chanel, people only wore gems. -
Hollywood
Chanel begins designing clothes for Hollywood films and signs a lucrative 1 million dollar contract. (A Brief Story..) This boosts her fame and promotes her designs more than ever. Having her designs in Hollywood films will easily advertise her designs to the public. Soon every girl wanted Chanel to design dresses them. She influenced her style through television and easily got her message across. -
Death
CoCo Chanel dies, aged eighty seven. (A Brief History...) Even in death, she is still influencing women of all ages with her designs and sense of style. Her products are one of the most high class and expensive brands on the market.
