    He was born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield Massachusetts. He was born to his two loving parents, Theodor Robert Geisel, a superintend of forest park zoo, and Henrietta Seuss, who was a Bavarian immigrant and then worked at a family bakeshop.

    On August 12, 1954 the book was published. Dr. Seuss wrote Horton hears a who to portray the message of kindness. He also wanted kids to learn to believe in themselves. In the story the elephant named Horton finds a dandelion with a hole word of Who-ville. He hears them yelling and know its real but no one else can hear them so get made fun of. Horton believes in them so much that he protects them at all coast and doesn't let the other animals get in his head.
