  • It' Begins: Donkey Kong

    Nintendo had ordered several thousand cabinets of a game called Radar Scope to be sold in America. while Radar scope was a hit in Japan it ultimately flopped in America. in an effort to recoup the financial loss of radar scope nintnedo retool the game to make it better and put Shigeru Miyamoto in charge of doing so. Instead Miyamoto gave Nintendo a brand new game that used the hardware. And that new game was Donkey Kong
    Donkey Kong had used bitmap graphics, 224x256 resultion and a 8bit CPU
  • Home Gaming Donkey Kong port

    Despite no major changes to the game, when donkey kong was ported to it NES this was a major step for the game because it was a major launch title when the NES was first released in america. despite have the same specs as the cabnit the NES version was a huge leap because it brought gaming to the home and in a much smaller package the NES utilized the same 8-bit CPU and had the same 256x240 resolution.
  • the 16bit era begins

    the next major step for the graphics of Donkey kong's graphics wouldn't come until 1991 when Nintendo released the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and with its 16 bit CPU and 64 kB of ram it was capable of having multiple moving backgrounds creating the illusion of depth making a more immersive game expeirence.
