Tris adn Caleb go take the Aptitude test and Tris' results are 3 factions Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless. She is called divergent by the test administrator, Tori and is told to keep it a secret.

Tris chooses dauntless as her faction at the Choosing Ceremony and Caleb chooses Erudite.

Tris starts Dauntless training and learns how to shoot a gun and fight in close quarters.

Tris climbs to the top of a ferris wheel and scouts out the location of the enemy flag, helping her team win the match.

Tris' dad doesn't go visit Tris because he was mad at her for choosing Dauntless over Abnegation.

Tris' mom warns her to stay near the bottom of training ranking, and to NEVER mention she is divergent. Also, she tells Tris to go ask Caleb to research the simulation serum, with no explanation. Tris also figures out her mother was Dauntless.

The night after the rankings go up (Tris in 6th Edward 1st and Peter 2nd) Edward gets stabbed with butter knife in the eye. The only people not at the scene are Drew and Peter.

Uriah invites Tris to go zipling off a building with other Dauntless born initiates. This way, Tris gets accepted into the group of Dauntless borns.

Tris is put through her first fear simulation for the first part of Dauntles traning:part 2.

After seeing Tris ranked first and himself last, Al decides to help Drew and Peter throw Tris over the chasm at night. Fortunately Four comes and saves Tris.

When Tris sees Al again, he cries and asks for fogiveness. Tris rejects him, and tells himto stay away or she will kill him.

Al kills himslef by jumping into the chasm with the river, becasue he was so sad Tris rejected him.

Tris learns Four only has foour fears after going through his fear landscape... hence the name "Four".

Tris goes to Erudite headquarters to visit Caleb (without permision) and meats Jeanine, the Erudite leader.

Tris and Tobias think that Erudite wants to use Dauntless, and their suspicions are proved true when a serum made by Erudite is injected into all the dauntless, disguised as a new version of tracking device.

Trsi is ranked first in the training scores, so she gets to stay with Dauntless instead of being kicked out.

The Dauntless are controlled by the serum injected into them by the Erudite. Tris is not affected because she is Divergent. Also, the Dauntless leaders are just watching so that means they are working with e Erudite. They are planning an attack on Abnegation.

Jeanine captures Tris and Four (who're now dating) and injects four with a serum that confuses him, making him think Tris is an enemy. Jeanine then takes him to the control room where the computer running the simulation controlling the Dauntless is kept.

When Tria is placed in a water tank to drown, she breaks out with sheer will, and her mom comes and carries her to safety. With the serum controlled Dauntless chasing them, Tris' mom sacrifeces herself as a distraction to let Tris get away.

Before Tris' mom died, she had told tris the location of a Abnegation safehouse. When Tris gets there, she finds her dad and Tris, her dad and a couple other Abnegation leaders mount an expedition to the simulation control room where Four is kept.

When the party of Abnegation are confronted by guards at the control room, Tris' dad kills all of them, but dies in the process.

Tris manages to save Four from the confusement simulation by saying his real name (Tobias) and hugging him. After that, they stop the simulation and stop the Dauntless from killing all the Abnegation.

Tris adn Tobias take a train out of Dauntless headquarters and escape to Amity headquarters, where there is peace.
