Jane and her older sister run away to New York, so jane can write, and win their family money. When they get there, they find out where the famous old time friend, tesla is living. Jane meets a new friend, who itroduces her to the inventor. -

jane goes to see a nickelodeon, and ends up seeing many all throughout the day. She goes to ChinaTown with the new boy of her dreams, and forgets all about Tesla. -
Chapter 8-12. Pages 15-200
Mimi stays at a hotel with a girl in he twenties, named Ninette. She is very wealthy and is engaged. She travels the world, and completely inspires Mimi. She buys her a brand new, expensive gown, and they soon become best friends within the afternoon. When Jane returns to the hotel, she realizes Ninette is friends with tesla, and so jane interviews him. -
Chapters 12-15. Pages 200-243
While Jane and Tesla are walking around in central park, feeding pigeons, she is interviewing him. He whispers in her ear that someone with an evil bowler hat is watvhing them. She finds out the strange man burnt down Tesla's labratories, and realizes he's bad news. the crew bolt for the hotel, making it just in time to hear that one of Tesla's most important workers moved and quit. -

Mimi finds out her real mother isn't Maude. It's an African American woman who died. She is furious when she finds out, because she didn't want to be half-black. emma and amelia experience their own saunce, in eachother, and realize that's what they want to do. -

Blythe is sick and tired of her boring life, being thirteen in a town full of mediums. She really wanted to be rich and famous. She needed to get out of that town, with or without the rest of her family. That's when she decided to go to the Titanic. Mimi and jane also wanted to go with Ninette and her lover, so Ninette got Mimi's entire family tickets. -
Chapter 22-24 pages 306-345
Mimi is getting married on ship, also with ninette!! The excitement is ruined, when tradgic news that the ship was having as "issue", was put on hold. tesla is distraught that the built of the ship is failing, and makes everyone a frantic mess. -
