German Botanist made the first generalized statment about cells,which was that "all plant tissues are composed of cells, and that cells are the basic building blocks of all plants." -
Theodor Schwann
German Botanist came to the conclusion that both plants and animal tissue were composed of cells. This stopped discussion over whether plants and animals were different on the microscopic level. With this new information the cell theory statment was revised, "1 - Cells are organisms and all organisms consist of one or more cells 2 - The cell is the basic unit of structure for all organisms". -
