Demi was born as Demetria Lovato on August 20, 1992. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but she was raised in Dallas, Texas. She has an older sister and a younger half sister.

When Demi was 7 years old , she started her acting career on Barney & Friends as Angela. She played on the show for seasons 7 and 8. While working, she met herf long time friend Selena Gomez.

When Demi was in seventh grade, she started etting bullied and shesoon developed depression. When she was 8 years old, she started having an "unhealthy relationshipo with food". When she was a 11, she self-mutilated her wrists to help her with dealing with her emotions. She always thought she was too fat to have friends because of what people would tell her.

Demi stopped self-harming after she went into rehab for her depression. She had also injured someone very important to her. She punched one of her back up dancers in the face.
