First 2 daughters go to school
The two sisters Patria and MInerva are in school now as Dede stays home -
Dede stays home while sisters attend school
She decides to stay home and care for papa and the store -
The Mirabals go to Trijillo party
Minerva was invited to this party and since mama is worried younger sis Dede and Patria go as well. This is a turning point for the Mirabals in the revolution when Minerva smacks the dictator. -
Minerva marries Lio
This is important to Dede because she desired him but kept her mouth quiet and now it is to late. -
Dede burns letter
Dede burns Lio's letter asking Minerva to flee the country with him, but she cannot allow herself to escape the inevitablity of the life expected of her. -
Dede marries Jaimito
She remembers how she loved Lio but marries Jaimito anyway -
Dede Babysits...
Dede babysits her neese's and nehew's while their mothers are in jail -
Dede rejects helping her sisters in the revolution
She doesn't want to get envloved because she wanted to keep her family safe. -
"I am Minerva"
Dede present herself to the police as Minerva. This is kinda one of the first gutsy things she does throughout the story. She is looking out for her sister. -
The sisters are released
Maria Teresa reports that she and Minerva will be released the next day along with the other female political prisoners. -
The sisters are murdered
The three sisters (all except Dede), are murdered. -
Dede takes over
Dede imediately takes over the girls' funeral arrangements. -
Dede begins to care for the girls children
She cares for the children as if they were her own..because in a way they are. They are the closest things she has to her sisters. -

After holding the legacy of her sisters and finished raising her knesse's and nephew's Mrs.Dede Mirabal passes away at the age of 88
