Marie Curie was born in Warsaw on November 7, 1867.She was the youngest of five childern.Marie had three sisters and one brother.

In 1891, Maria made it to Paris. When she arrived at Sorbonne she wrote the french version of her name.(Marie)She got two degrees.

In 1894, Marie met Pierre , professor at the School of Physics.One of her professors had arranged funding for her to investigate the magnetic properties of steel.

In 1895, Marie and Pierre got married.Marie resumed her research on steel.she stopped her research in order to have her daughter Irene.

In July 1898, thecuries publised their findings : they had discovered a new radioactive element that they called polonium.

Pierre's health was failing and Marie had lost 20 pounds.Both had damaged their fingertips handling radioactive matierals.

The Curies were joint winners with Henri Becquerel of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903.

In August 1903 ,Curie had finally finished her doctorate.She was also 5 months pregnent.But after a three week cycling trip with her husband, she lost her baby.Then, in December 1904, the Curies' second daughter ,Eve,was born.

She died on July 4,1934. she died of a blood disorder called aplastic anemia.
