Dana discovered her new passion for yoga at Baptiste (this passion continues 4+ days a week including daily meditation practice) -
Dana Discovers Mental Health Problem in Brookline
Discover that mental health is a big issue for Brookline High School students and the United States population as a whole. Realizing this, Dana connects this to her passion for yoga and meditation due to her own anxiety. -
Meditation Teacher Training
Dana partakes in a meditation teacher training that gives her the tools she will need to teach at the Brookline Teen Center. She learns various scripts for guided meditation including relaxation and visual meditation. -
Meeting with Ian Kilpatrick at Brookline Teen Center
Dana meets with Ian Kilpatrick at Brookline Teen Center who helped her develop a time to give meditation/yoga class and develop March Movement month -
Kundalini Teacher Training
Dana started attending Kundalini teacher training classes at Down Under Yoga. Kundalini is a special type of ancient breathing exercise that would be incorporated into Dana's lesson -
Read Mindfulness in Plain English by Bhante Henepola Gunaratana
Dana read Mindfulness in Plain English by Bhante Henepola which helped her understand the orgins of meditation to be able to better explain in simple terms during her lesson -
Met with Baptiste Trained Teacher
Dana met with Katharyn Caruso who was trained at Baptiste. Dana went over lesson plan, yoga flow, and notecards with her. She loved the project! She also gave some tips and resources for the lesson that Dana would later use. -
Promoted March Movement month (through the month)
Dana worked to promote March Movement month on Facebook with Rebecca Seagle. She also used word of mouth to promote her class and the movement month. -
Dana's Yoga and Meditation Workshop
Dana completed her first yoga and meditation workshop at the Brookline Teen Center on April 5th. The results were great with 8 people showing up to enjoy a free class! People loved the class and after answering the survey 100% of participants said they would use meditation as a skill for releaving stress. -
