Ridley Scotts "Blade Runner" was credited as being a major part of the establishment of Cyberpunk as a genre. Not a huge hit initially, it did become a bit of a cult classic, but now would be considered a science fiction classic. William Gibsonn writes and publishes "Burning Chrome" a collection of ten short stories set in the future. All of the stories laid the groundwork for his "Sprawl" series and helped define the genre. William Gibsons "Neuromancer" was realeased in 1984. Along with "Blade Runner" it helped establish CyberPunk as a ,stand alone, genre.
