Buck is Kidnapped
A gardener named Manuel was facing debt, for he sold Buck to couriers named Francios and Perult. This foreshadows that Buck is going to have to traverse through hard times. This leads to his metamophis because he is going to be thown into the wild, for it is his first time in the wild. -
Buck is Caged like a Animal
After being captured Buck is implanted in a cage. This is a juxtaposotion because he used to be free and king of all things in his home. Now Buck is a caged little dog, and he has no controll over anything. This leads to his metamophosis because Buck is being caged and this drives him angry. When he gets angry, he turns savage. -
Curley is Killed
Savagely a group of dogs attack curley, and they kill her. She is left as a bloody mess. Curley was Buck's best friend. This foreshadows Buck will be torn from this, and he will attempt to aquire revenge from Sptiz. This leads to his metamophosis because he lost one of his friends, and anger is biulding up inside of him, pushing him closer to savagery. -
Buck kills Spitz
After Curleys death, after Spitz kept taunting him, and after Spitz stole his hole from him, Buck endured enough. Buck killed Spitz. This symbolises Bucks decent into savagery, for Sptiz symbolises the nagging instincts to kill that is hitting Buck. Now as he killed Spitz, he has been possed with instincts to kill and the thirst for blood. This leads to his metamophosis because he is now kills for the first time, which makes him a savage dog. -
Buck Gains His Spot in Line
Buck killed Spitz, and he felt he deserved his spot as leader of the dog slead. He shows it clear to his owners he longs to be leader. He is positioned as leader. This symbolises Buck being the dominent dog of the group, for he killed the previously dominent dog. This leads to his metamophosis because he is becoming more of a leader like a wolf. -
John Thorton Saves Buck
Hal the new owner of the dogs was furious at Buck, and he beating him and trying to kill him. Until John Thorton drew closer, and he saved him. Hal and the rest of the dogs fell as ice broke beneath them and died. This foreshadows Buck and John will be best friends. This leads to his metamophosis because he gains a friend. -
John Thorton Cuts Buck's Traces
After saving Buck, John Thorton cuts Buck's traces letting him free. This symbolises that Buck is now free, and he is cut from restriction and ownership. Buck goes from domestic to a primitive dog. This leads to his metamophose because he is no longer restricted, and he is more primitive now. -
John Thorton Dies
After a vicious attack from indians on their camp site, Buck finds John Thorton lieng dead on the ground. This was a symbolic moment because Buck lost his best friend, and he cared for him. This foreshadows him traversing off by himself with the wolf pack, now that he has no owner and nothing to keep hold of him anymore. This leads to his metamophosis because nothing is holding Buck back from joining the wolf pack anymore, for he does, leading to his final metamorphose. -
Buck Joins Wolf Pack
After John Thorton's death Buck finally joined the wolf pack in the woods. This symbolises his final decent into savagery after all through the novel, he was getting more and more like a wolf, he finally transformed into one. This is his ultimate metamophosis because he now joins the wolf pack, for he decented into total savagery, and Buck acts just as a wolf.
