The Yalta Conference happened in Russia from February 4th to the 11th. It was during World War Two, the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin made decisions pertaining to the progress of the war and the after war world. -
Truman Doctrine
The Truman Doctrine was created by President Harry S. Truman. He said that the United States would give political, military and economic help to all democratic nations under threat from outside or inside authoritarian forces. -

The cold war began in 1945 in Germany, It started after United states defeated Hitlers Germany and japan. The soviet union and United States portrayed each other as animals through propaganda leading there people to believe these images. The Cold war ended on December 26th 1991. Leaving both sides with a massive casualty count. -

President Truman signed the Economic Recovery Act of 1948. It later became known as the Marshall Plan. It was named this for the Secretary of State George Marshall; because he asked that the United States gave economic assistance to the restoration of postwar Europe in 1947. -

China fell to communism Mainly due to the communists managed to get the Chinese people's support to expel the "corrupt" capitalists at the time. Later resulting in the defeat of the capitalists. It became a communist state because communist insurgents won the civil war. -

The Korean war began on June 25th 1950 because Kim Il sung's communist north Korean army invaded non communist south Korea; leading to the united states involvement due to United states want to stop the spread of communism.The Korean war later ended on July 27th 1953. -

On April 11th 1951 president Truman fired General of the Army Douglas MacArthur of his position after he had made public statements which went against the administration's terms. -
Stalin dies
stroke 74 Joseph Stalin was born on December 18th 1878, in Gori Georgia. He later died in Moscow at his personal house which was in the city of Kuntsevo. He was pronounced to die from a stroke at age 74 on March 5th 1953. -
Rosenberg executed
Rosenbergs were found guilty of telling U.S. military secrets to the Soviet union. The Rosenbergs were the first U.S. civilians to be sentenced to death for espionage. They were later then executed in the electric chair at sundown on June 19th 1953. -
Cease fire in Korean war
The Cease fire agreement formally ended the war in Korea. North Korea and South Korea remained apart and had almost the same amount of area they had when the war began. -
Geneva Conference
The Geneva Conventions are international treaties to protect victims of war, including wounded, sick, members of the military, prisoners of war, and civilians in areas of conflict. The original convention grew out of a meeting called by the federal council of Switzerland in 1864. -
Warsaw pact formed
The Warsaw pact was also known as the Warsaw treaty Organization. It was a military alliance made on May 14 1955; between the Soviet Union and several Eastern European countries. -

McCarthy was born on January 26th 1880 in Little Rock AR died on April 5th 1964 in Washington, D.C due to primary biliary cirrhosis. -

NASA or National Aeronautics and Space Administration. It was created because the soviet union and the USA were in a space race in the 1950's, both were eager to get there. On July 29th 1958 President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed an act making NASA giving the U.S. the lead in space travel. -

The U-2 was Shot down by a Soviet air missile on the morning of May 1st 1960. CIA pilot Francis Gary Powers had been on a top secret mission: to over fly and photograph denied territory from his U2 spy plane deep inside Russia. -

The Cuban Missile Crisis happened on October 14th 1962. It was a direct confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It also was the moment when the two superpowers came the closest to nuclear conflict. -

President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald close to noon on November 22nd 1963. He was riding in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas Texas.
