Coco Chanel was born in Saurmur, France. Her mother (Jeanne Devolle), was a laundry women and her father (Albert Chanel), was a street peddeler.

At the age of 27 Jeanne Devolle dies of tuberculosis. Her father coudn't take care of the five children so her two brothers got sent to an all boys orphanage. Her and her sisters get sent to an all girls orphanage. Coco Chanel was 12 when her mother died.

Coco works as a dress maker with her Aunt during 1900 to 1904.

Coco soon is too old to attend the orphanage so at the age of 18 she moves to a bording school called Notre Dame which is located in Paris
