On May21,1821 Mrs.Clara Barton was born into this world in Oxford,Massachusetts.Little did they know that Clara was going to grow up to be extrodinary!This is where it all began.

She moved to Washington D.C.There she started working in the Ptent Office as a clerk. There as a clerk she made a salary equivelent to a man's. Back then this was a huge deal.

Ms.Clara Barton was 18 years old and had the job of a teacher/educator.She got an equal pay of $1400.The next year the secretary of Interior(Robert Mclelland) who opposed to women working in goverment position.Whith a lower salary.

Buchanan Administration eleminated her position from a clerk to a copyiest.She reterned to her old job as a copyiest,with a lower salary. This guy was against women working in goverment,.

In April of 1861 Clara Barton found hurt soldiers and started to heal them. She didn't have permission to do this quite yet. No one caught her doing this.

In 1862 she got this super important letter giving approval to ship supplies to battle fields.She got to go to all of the major battle fields.Those battle fields were in Maryland, Virginia, and South Caralina.She went there to deliver things to surgeons, doctors, (ect.).

In 1869 Clara Barton traveled to Europe because she got sick,also her doctor said so. She traveled there to gain her health. In Switzerland she learned about the Red Cross that Geneva in 1864.

I think in May 1881 became the first president of the Red Cross Assotiation ever.She was 60yrs old. She led it for 23 yrs.

On May 21, 1882 Her efforts to become Red Cross president paid off.he got elected in June.She matter of fact formed the Red Cross.

In the month of March in 1882, President A.Aurthur Cherster signed the treaty of Gevena. Along with the U.S senate, The U.S joined the Red Cross.

When Clara was eleven years old her brother Captin David fell off of a barn rooof. Eventualy he got rweally sick. Clara took care of him and became his nurse.She got him back to good health,so that hse could go back to doing what he does.P.Sshe cared for David for 2 years.

She resigned from being president Of the National Red Cross and formed the National First Aid Association. It emphasized the basic first aid, instruction, and emergency parparedness and developed aid kits.

At the age of 90 at her home in Glen Echo in maryland passed away. I think she passed away of old age.Not very many know what she did.

Glen echo became Clara Barton National Historic site.The first National Historic site based off of some accoplishments of a women. This women was just amazing!
