    The South attacked when Lincoln became president.They kept on attacking until the base had to give up because if he surrendered they south would become a nation.

    Virginia leaves the the union, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina followed.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    Battle of Bull Run
    This was the first major battle of the civil war. Both sides thought the battle was going to be over in 3 hours. But it lasted 10 hours and together both sides lost 5,000 together.
  • Battle at Shiloh

    Battle at Shiloh
    This is when General Grant tried to take over the railroads. But the Confederates attacked when the union was waiting for reinforcements. After the war both sides together lost about 100,000 troops.

    This was a confederate victory they pushed the union out of Kentucky. This opened new routes for the confederate to the north.
