    Election of Lincoln
    The elections of 1860 resulted in the presidency of Abraham Lincoln. The democrats were heavily seperated with their own representitives. The republicans won and Lincoln became president and promised that slavery will be wiped away from the U.S government. By that time seven of the southern states seceded from the U.S already forshadowing the blow the Union won by having Abraham Lincoln for president.
  • TX Secedes from Union

    TX Secedes from Union
    Texas secedded from the Union from the mass of states surronding it and the fact that its people beleived that "any state gas the right to peacaebly secede and become and independent republic." The republicans were more supportive than the democratics about secession. Texas joined the Confederacy right ater secedding from the Union and regarded Lincoln's idea about state's rights. The Southern democrats won this battle with the Confederacy. But this action had significant importance.
  • Houston kicked out of office

    Houston kicked out of office
    Houston was forced by democracy to join the Confederate States of America, because he refused to pledge himself to their cause. He had a firm belief that black people should be free and didn't like the Confederate's ways. Before the Confederacy fired Houston he quit from his job and left to his house. The Confederacy lost an important people's man that day as well as major influence with the Texans.

    Battle at Fort Sumter
    South Carolina seceeded from the U.S with U.S soldiers still stuck inside. Secretly, the soldiers snuck away to the unfinished Fort Sumpter to defend themselves from the Confederecy. Lincoln said he was sending food the their starving soldiers and the Confederecy thought otherwise and spent thousands of mortar shells on the fort killing none. The govener of South Carolina went ot the U.S soldiers and asked for their surrender. The soldiers surrendered and the beginning of the Civil War began.

    The Battle of Galveston was significant, because it showed the Union that the Confederacy can hold their own against the Union's numbers. The Confederecy succeeded in capturing a very large city with many slaves for work. But, since this was a farming city it held no significant result that aided the Confederecy during the war.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    Lee led his army to begin his second invasion of the north, the Gettysburg Campaign. The armies of the Union and Confederecy met on July 1 and Lee planned to destroy them up front. The Union was on the defense and released artillary fire on their calvary resulting in heavy losses for the Confederecy. The Confederacy retreated leaving the Union the victor of this city and give courage as well as support from Pennsylvania in the Civil War.
  • Battle of Sabine Pass

    Battle of Sabine Pass
    Abraham Lincoln looked to the south and saw a chance that the French would help the Confederacy. He sent his ships down to blockade Maximillan from trading. The Confederacy took this aggresivly and they sent artillary to the Union. The Union suffered losses of around 200 while the Confederates suffered none. The South won this battle but they did not open a trade route to Mexico and the significance of this battle is of no importance.
  • Red River Campaign

    The Union wanted the control of the Red River and part of east texas, destroy the Condeferate army lead by Taylor, and take the food from the south and feed the soldiers. The Union captured a few forts along the river taking most of their heavy weapons. But the Union had poor planning and the Confederacy countered their attacks and drove the Union back. Taylor commanded a smaller force and still beat the Union back with using their poor planning and ideas against them.

    End of Civil War
    The Northen armies of the Union finally beat the Confederecy in the Civil War. Now the republicans anf northern democrats hold a large amount of influence among the governemnet. The next voting period was unusual since in most Southern states Lincoln's name was not even an option to vote for. In the end when the Confederecy lost it showed that the will for seperate state laws was not more powerful than the government's laws.
  • Battle of Palmito Ranch

    Battle of Palmito Ranch
    The Union troops stationed near Fort Brown attacked the Confederate escarpments. Then the Confederates countered their attack with heavy Union calsuaties. That was the last battle of any other significance before peace. The Confederacy won with 300 against 500 Union people the Union lost 101 men while the Confederacy lost 6

    Juneteenth is a holiday where the United States celebrate the abolishment of slavery from their lives. Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, is widely celebrated when slaves could have their own lives and be a free people. WHen slaves gained freedom
  • Reconstruction Ends

    Reconstruction Ends
    After the Civil War Lincoln went about setting the south back to normal as fast as possible. Most consider this a failiure when is became a "poverty-stricken backwaer attached to agriculture." The white democrats worked their up in the south again making the second-class limited to rights. The democratic and republican party both benifitted and lost from the Reconstruction to bring the U.S back to its former glory.
