    Battle of Fort Sumter
    At 4:30 A.M. shots were fired in Charelston, South Carolina.Battle lasted for 34 hours but in the end the South won. "The first shots of the Civil War". South invaded the North.
  • 1st Bull Run Battle/ Manassas

    1st Bull Run Battle/ Manassas
    The first Bull Run Battle was the first battle of the civil war. Confederacy attacked the Union first. the battle took place in Virgina.Confederacy won the battle. The Union had McDowell as the commanding General. While the Conderearcy had Beauregas as commanding general.
  • Battle of Hamptom Roads

    Battle of Hamptom Roads
    Took place in Virginia. John Worden for the North. Catesby R. Jones and Franklin Buchanan for the South. It was an inclocusive battle. 433 casualties in the battle.Lasted from March 8-9, 1862.
  • Battle of Shiloh/ Pittsburg Landing

    Battle of Shiloh/ Pittsburg Landing
    The Battle of Shiloh took place in Tennessee. The Union had grant and the Confederacy had Johnston. Johnston was killed during this battle. The union won while getting control of the Tennessee River. The battle took place from April 6- July 1, 1862.
  • Battle of Fredericksburg

    Battle of Fredericksburg
    The Battle of Fredericksburg took place in Fredricksburg, Virginia. Burnside was the head of the North while Lee was the head of the South. It was a south victory. which stopped the union from advancing any further into the South.
  • 2nd Bull Run/ Manassas

    2nd Bull Run/ Manassas
    The battle of the Second Bull Run took place in Virgina. Fighting for the Union was Poe and fighting for the Confederacy was Jackson. Jackson won which let them get control over most of Virginia. The battle lasted from Aug. 29-30, 1862.
  • Battle of Antietam/ Sharpsburg

    Battle of Antietam/ Sharpsburg
    The Battle of Antietam was fought in Sharsburg, Maryland. The Union had McClellan fighting and the Confederacy had Lee fighting. The fight was a milatary draw seen as political victory for Union. This battle led to Emancipation Proclomation.

    Emancipation Proclamation
    Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation to free all slaves in the Confederate territory. It had little impact.THe confederates were angried by this, so they claimed that The president had no right to so because it was not in black and white in the Constitution.
  • Battle of Chancellorsville

    This battle took place in Chancellorsville, Virgina. The union had Hooker fighting and Condedarcy had Lee. it was a Confedarcy victory. Lee won but should have lost because he was out number 2:1. THe battle was from May 2-4, 1863.
  • Siege of Vicksburg

    Siege of Vicksburg
    Took place in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Union was leaded by Grant and Confederacy was leaded by Pemberton. The battle lasted from May 18- July 4, 1863. Union took the victory. It also gave them control over the Mississippi River. Which made the Anaconda Plan succesful.

    The battle of Gettysburg was in Pennslvina. Union had Meade fighting and the Confedarcy had Lee fighting. Union took home the victory. The battle lasted from July 1-3, 1863. There were over 43,000 casualties. South decieded that they would never invade the North agian.
  • Siege of Atlanta

    Siege of Atlanta
    Took place in Virginia. North Grant and South Lee. Very few times did they fight eachother. Lee won. Union did not retreat and kept presuring Lee. This battle lasted from July 16- September 2, 1864. This was a serise of battle fought for two days then took a break.
  • Ratification of the 13th Amendment

    Ratification of the 13th Amendment
    Lincoln argued and argued with Congress to pass the amendment. This amendment let all enslaved people out. By the time the year ended 27 sataes' while 8 were in the South had ratified the amendment.
  • Surrender at Appomattox Court House

    Surrender at Appomattox Court House
    Lee surrendered to Grant( South to North). Lee was fleading west, he still wanted to fight but knew the sitution he was in. He sent a letter to Grant to surrender. THey met in a town in Virginia that had the Appomattox Court House. Grant gave very generous terms. Confederates could return home in peace with all belongings and would be given food from Union for thier journey.
  • Assassination of Abraham Lincoln

    Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    Five days after Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Court House, Lincoln and his wife addented a play at the Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate supporter, shot him in the back of the head in Lincoln's balcony. Booth then jumped the balcony breaking his leg but was still able to get away. Many days later Union troops found him and killed him. The bullet in Lincoln's head was not able to be remove, he later died on April 15, 1865.
