    Integration of Central High School
    The intragration of Central High School was a ver important step in the civil rights movement. In it nine black children went to a previously all white school. This was a very important step because it was the starting of the desegration of the country.
  • First lunch counter sit-in

    First lunch counter sit-in
    Originally starting with four black collage students, sit-ins became one of the most popular ways to protest equality. In them people would sit at a counter and justa ask to be served and nothing else.
  • Freedom Rides

    Freedom Rides
    Black and white freedom riders boarded a bus together bound for southern states in the United States. They did this because previous to then buses companies had chose to remain segregated. Whenever they stopped they would tell people about how segregation is a terrible thing. Then when they entered Alabama the bus was set afire by white supremasists. After which the president sent federal agents to protect the freedom riders.
  • Birmingham Campaign

    Birmingham Campaign
    MLK traveled to Birmindham, Alabama to help integrate public and commericial facilities. Birmingham had closed most of its facilities instead of integrating them. As time went on more and more protesters were sent to jail, including those as young as 6. As time went on leaders finally agreed as jails became filled to compacity.
  • March on Washington

    Hundreds to thousands of Americans came to Washington to support the Civil Rights Act. Their leaders demanded equal oppotunity for jobs and the full implementations of recial minorities.

    Civil Rights Act of 1964
    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it so no people would be discriminated againt because of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation.
