    Plessy vs. Ferguson
    This very important event took place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Homer Plessy lead this event and turned it into a Supreme Court Case. However, The Supreme Court said seperate but equal, giving every person the chance to have the same level of education.
  • Pearsall Plan

    Pearsall Plan
    The Pearsall Plan in North Carolina was made to provide private school tuition for any child whos parents didn't want to attend mixed schools. The Pearsall Plan was eventualy declared unconstitutional.
  • Greensboro Sit-in

    Greensboro Sit-in
    The Greensboro Sit-in was a peaceful protest that involved African American college students that eventually caused theaters, hotels, hospitals, and other public facilities to desegregate voluntarily.
  • Freedom Riders

    Freedom Riders
    The Freedom Riders were a Congress of Racial Equality which rode buses starting in Washington D.C. and going throughout New Orleans, Birmingham, and Montgomery, Alabama. The Freedom Riders eventually made enough rides that the Supreme Court ruled new regulations that banned segregation on interstate buses.

    This event took place at the Birmingham Jail in Birmingham, Alabama. In this jail, Martin Luther King Jr. wrote a letter to Clegymen to express his feelings about segregation in the Southern States of the U.S. This was not the only time Martin Luther King Jr. had been to jail, he was in jail over 20 times.
