15th Amendmet Passes
The 15th Amendment granted all men, no matter their race, the right to vote. This hekped progress the civil rights movement because it gave African American men the right to vote. There was, however, still ways to stop this such as literacy tests and taxes. -
Plessy vs. Ferguson
Plessy v. Ferguson was was a supreme court ruling that said that seperate but equal was constitutional. It passed in 1896 starting the civil rights movement. -
NAACP Founded
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was founded to ensure equallity of all people. -
Brown vs Board of Education
Brown vs Bpard of Education was a Supreme court ruling regarding the segregation of schools. It took place in Topeka, Kansas and stated that seperate but equal schooling was unconstituional. -

African American woman Rosa Parks's was arrested after her refusal to move to the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. -

A group of college students in North Carolina sat in local resturants in protest of not being served in white only resturaunts. -
Martin Luther King, Jr. "I have a dream speech"
Martin Luther King, Jr. gives his "I Have a Dream" speech in front of hundreds of thousands of people, of all races, in the "March on Washington." His speech was for advaction of nonviolent protests. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a huge step in civil righst legislation. It outlawed discrimination of race, religion, sex, in all ways. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
It was signed in 1965 and prohibited the restriction of voting rights of African Americans through all intimidations and unfair disadvantages. -
Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated
Martin Luther King was assassinated as a result of having seperate opinions than the 'black panthers' regarding eliminating segreagation.
