    Emmit Till's death I
    In the town of Money Missippi Emmit till was visiting his Gradpa. He went to the store to buy some stuff and before he left he said to the store clerk's wife "Hey baby", now back then in the south you never say stuff like that to a white women. So in the night they dragged Emmit till out. To beat him to scare him not to do it again, but he kept reisting and they beat him to death and dumped his body in the river.

    After they found his body, the county found the muderers and brought them to the court. The jury made of all white men found them not guilty. At his furnal his Mom asked for his coffin not to be coverd so the whole world could see what the white men did. This event ultimatly led up to the Civil rights movement.
  • Rosa Park's arrest

    On the date of December 1, 1955 A women named Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat for a white man on a bus and ultimantly she was arrested. She was put in jail. This started the movement of black people not taking buses anywhere. Until the Supreme Court ruled the end of Segrigation on the buses.
  • Little Rock 9

    Little Rock 9
    The Little Rock Nine were the first group of African American students to ever enroll in a white school.This school was Little Rock Central Highschool. At the first attempt to enter the highschool on September 4, 1957 the sstudents were met by a mob and forced to go home. Then on the date of September 23, 1957 1,220 troops from the 101st airborn division were assigned to the school to keep the kids safe. Each of the 9 kids had their own division bodyguard.
  • Freedom Riders

    Freedom Riders
    Two buses left from Washington DC to go to New Orlens and were destend to arrive on My 7, 1957, but both buses never arrived. One bus was met in Brimingham, Alabama by the KKK and the clansmen of the KK slashed the tires and firebombed the bus, then the KKK clansmen tried to hod the doors shut and were stoped by a patrolmen. Then the other bus arrived in Anniston and were beaten there by KKK calnsmen with chains, pipes and baseball bats. The atttempts were stoped after that.

    On this date A huge mob broke out and police men and firemen were spraying people with their hoses and beating them. Also on this date Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested and about a year letter he wrote the Birmingham jail letter.

    THis was a letter from Martin Luther king Jr. after his arrest. After he wrote this letter kids lined up just to see Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church

    Bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church
    On this date the KKK set up a bomb in the church. When the bomb when off 6 childern were killed in the church. This event to the Missippi Burning and then people started to get registerd to work.
  • Mississippi civil rights workers' murders

    Mississippi civil rights workers' murders
    On this date 3 men were pulled over by the local sheriff for speeding. The Sheriff sent the men home and on the way back they were followed. After they crashed the three men were shot at point blank range and their bodies dumped in a nearby lake. While searching for the three men the searcherss found the bodies of many other black men. This ultimantly sparked the freedom march.
  • Selma to Montgomery marches

    Selma to Montgomery marches
    This march was a march from Selma and Montgomery to march up to the Alabama senator and demand voting rights. This march aslo led to the bloody sunday. Were the marches were met by the police and betean and killed. The march then continued and it was under the protetion of the president of the US. Th march had everybody of every race and ethnity. After, they arrived in Alabama Freedom rights were installed and the struggle for civil rights for voting were over
