  • Brown Vs. Board of Education

    Oliver Brown fought the case that schools should not be any segregated schools. Brown fought his case until finally the Supreme Court ruled that segregated schools were unconstitutional.
  • Montgomery bus boycott

    The main start of the fire was when Rosa Parks was arrested for not moving for a white. There had been problems before this but this was the start of the 13 month stand. The Supreme Court finally ruled the black and white segregation on public transport unconstitutional.
  • Little Rock Nine

    The little rock nine was 3 years after the schools had became in segregated. The little rock nine was 9 colored girls who enrolled in a high school and a mob of white people and the Kansas National Guard was ordered to not let any blacks into the school.
  • Sit-ins

    Many black students entered a white only lunch shop and refused to leave until they were served. This sparked multiple other college students to come and join them. This also sparked more people to do this across the U.S.
  • Children's Crusade

    This was a demonstration where many black children went and marched for what they believe in. They went against the fear of being arrested, police dogs, and fire hoses that he police used to try and get them to leave their protest.
  • March on Washington

    This was a march that 250,000 people came to. While this wasn't just blacks it was blacks and whites both. The races both came to march and listen to speeches in Washington D.C. where they non-violently protest black rights.
  • Birmingham Church Bombing

    This was a demonstration where white men planted a bomb at a black church in Birmingham. The bomb was at least 15 sticks of dynamite attached to a timer went off. Four girls were killed and 14 others were injured.
  • Civil rights act

    The Supreme Court ruled that discrimination because of somebody's beliefs, race, sex, or national origin to be outlawed. This should of been the end to all of the discrimination against other people but it wasn't.
  • Voting Rights act

    This was a big deal because never before had black been able to vote for the president that they wanted and this one of their last rights they needed. This ended in 1965 when the voting rights law was passed and it gave the right for blacks to then vote.
  • Watts Riot

    This is one of the few of the violent protest performed. This started because a black was pulled over suspected for intoxicated driving. this protest continued for three days and more than 40 million dollars of property was destroyed.
