    When Arkansas won a court order requiring 9african americans to got to school with 2000 white students. orval Faubus was against it and wantd to prevent them from coming to the all white school.He sent troops to surround the school and after a conference with eisenhower to remove the troops. 2 aftrian american reporters were beat.The students came and troops always had to stay at little rock school for the rest of the year.officails in little rock contiuned to resist integration. 1959=integrate.

The civil rights act of 1957 was intened to protect the right of african americans to vote. thy wanted to convince african americans to vote Republican. Lyndon Johnson put together a compromise to enable the act to pass.it created a civil rights division snd gve the authority to seek court injuctions against anyone interfering wit the right to vote. after the bill passed SCLC registered 2 million african american new voters.
