    White Primary is Abolished in Georgia
    White Primary in Georgia was something that restricted African Americans from voting. Primus E. King lived in Georgia and tried to vote at Muscogee County Court House. He was quickly thrown out.   • Integration of the Armed Forces

    Integration of the Armed Forces
    President Harry Truman wanted the desegregation of the military as soon as possible by taking it through administrative action, instead of going through the legislature. There really is no actual date that I can find of when the armed forces were actually integrated, but I found the day that he signed the bill.     Rosa Parks and the Mongomery Bus Boycott
    Rosa parks was sitting on a Montgomery bus, when a white man came over and told her to move. The NAACP were involved (the National association for the Advancement of Colored People). The police, the United States Legislature, and all black Americans were also involved.     In 1955, a man came up with the idea to make a new Georgia state flag that would incorporate the confederate battle flag (the stars and bars).     Crisis at Central High School and "Little Rock Nine"
    The cause of the crisis was integration. Blacks were now being sent to schools for white people, and many got angry at the idea. Little rock nine was the group of African Americans that were enrolled into the high school.     Hebrew Benevolent Congregation in Atlanta Bombed
    A reform Jewish temple in Atlanta, Georgia. An explosion of about 50 sticks of dynamite blew through the wall of the building, yet no-one was killed nor injured. Someone after the bombing called the police and said, "We bombed a temple in Atlanta. This is the last empty building in Atlanta we will bomb.   • The Sibley Commission

    The Sibley Commission
    The Sibley Commission was established on March 3, 1960 to integrate schools in the deeps south. People in the sibley commission interviewed other Georgians to see how they felt about integration. They found out that more Georgians would rather shut down their schools, and then have them integrated.     Integration of UGA
    Governor Vandiver backed up the Supreme Court's plans to integrate UGA. he wanted it to be a school with both blacks and whites. The citizen's reactions to the decision were to shut down the college instead of making it integrated.     freedom rides
    Freedom riders were people that lived in the north and rode a public transportation bus into the south, opposing segregation and testing separate but equal laws called Jim Crow Laws.     African Americans in the NAACP and SNCC wanted to test the segregation laws on a bus stop for whites only.     Birmingham, AL Protests
    As Martian Luther King Jr. started moving his campaigns to Alabama, more and more protests about civil rights popped up. for several nights, police tried to stop the riots and protests in the streets. While doing so, they would shoot fire-hoses at them to make them stop.   • 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham bombed

    16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham bombed
    It was a nice Sunday morning. as parents dropped their children off at their Sunday-school, there was an explosion. a bomb had killed four black children and injured fourteen others. Even though there was a riot afterwards, many whites and African Americans joined together to stop further violence.   • John F. Kennedy Assassination

    John F. Kennedy Assassination
    President John F. Kennedy was in a car riding in downtown Dallas, Texas. In the middle of a parade, there was a loud, "BOOM". Everyone's attention was then turned to the dead body, which was John F. Kennedy's.     Summerhill Race Riot in Atlanta
    The Summerhill race riot of 1966 was caused by a police man shooting at a black man for thinking he was stealing a car.     MLK Assassinated
    \MLK died in the Lorraine hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. A man named James Earl Ray. He shot a bullet into his mouth, area, which then destroyed his jugular vein. He never regained consciousness.
