The civl rights act of 1866 passed. This regognized the citizenship of African Americains. This was not always followed in some states and though this should have been the end of racism it was only a new begining.

Linda Brown lived in Topeka Kansas and was not alowed to go to the white school near her home. After Linda Brown won the case this set off the integration of schools.

In Montgomery Alabama Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the "colored" section of a bus.
This was signifigant because Rosa was taking a stand against racism. -
This was a very famous speech made by Martin Luther King Jr. at the Washington DC civil rights march. This speech is his most famous and was told to a very large crowd.

Assassinated while on his hotel balcony by James Earl Ray. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the greatest americains and he was now gone and never got to see how his work paid off.
