Civil Rights
This movement was to secure for Afircan Americans equal rights. It leaned towards the African population.State and local government passed segregation laws known as the Jim Crow Laws. The movement adrssed education,social segregation,and voting rights. -
The Brown Decision
It outlawed racial sgregation in public schools. Whites created the Ku Klux Klan after that law was passed.One of the biggest targets for the KKK was the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, they were blacks across the South. -
Social Segregation #1
Blacks in Montgomery ,Ala, organized a boycott the city buses in protest of segregated seating. The whole boycott started with Rosa Parks.In Atlanta, Ga, as a national organized presided over by a local black minister Martin Luther King ,Jr. -
The Brown Decison
The school board put 9 black students to the city's previosly all-white school until the law got passed, so when the kids went to the school the blacks were getting beat up so the President sent out fedral troops to protect the black students. -
Social Segregation #2
4 students from the all-lack North Carolina Agricultual and Thechnical College had a sit-in at a lunch counter in Greensboro,N.C. During the sit-ins theyoung protesters orgainized the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. -

Congress of Racial Equality organized the Freedom Riders. Black and white freedom riders got beaten and arrested one time there bus burened down. -

the NAACP branches to win voating rights for blacks and to end segregation in public places. Outlawed segregation in public places and prohibited racial and gender discrimanation in empolyment practices. -
Voting Rights
no blacks were were registered to vote the COFO lanched a massive unsuccessful voter registration drive. -

Black power favored African Americans controlling the movment, exercizing economic antonomy. -

Only 1 percent of black student in the deep south states were attending public schools with whites.Fedral courts required school districs to implement.
