    The bron case was based on the important argument that black students were getting unequal education.
    The teacher pay was different ;and that school supplies were different

  • Student Non-Violent Coordinating Comittee(SNCC)

    Student Non-Violent Coordinating Comittee(SNCC)
    SNCC is an organization for black and white college stuents.
    Local citizens were joined by African Americans working with SNCC under the leaderdhip of Charles Sherrod.
    SNCC hope to register African Anericans to vote.

    Hamilton Holmes & Charlayne Hunter into UGA
    Hamilton Holmes was the valevictorian of the Henry McNeal Turner High School.
    Charlayne Hunter was also a top graduate.
    There applications to University of Georgia we rejected.
    January 1961, U.S District Court Judge William Bootle ordered that they be amitted to UGA.

    The movement began to desegrate Albany in Dougherty County , the first large -scale effort since Montgomery.
    In this rural area of the state, most blacks depend on whites for thier livelihood, making protest a risky activity.
    That November , a group called the Albany Movement organized the fight to end decrimination.
    Protest marches led to the mass arrest of hundreds.

    He was a Morehouse graduate like MLK. Jr.
    Maynard Jackson could not run for a third straight term,so he was out of office from 1982-1990, while Andrew Young served as the president.
