    Plessy is overturned in the brown v. board of education case. It is ruled that seperate but equal is not infact equal or leagal

  • Little rock

    Nine African Americans enrolled in little rock Arkansas. They were met with violence racism and brutality. This was after the passing of Brown v. board of education

  • Sit-ins

    These were protests against segregated public placed. They were non-violent. the most prominent one bringing sit-ins to the centre of civil rights protest was the Greensboro sit-in

  • Freedom riders

    The legislation is passed against discrimination on public buses and terminals and segregation. The law is set to a test by the riders to push for enforcement. Causes fray between JKF

  • Meredith

    James Meredith enrolls at University of Mississippi after President John F. Kennedy sends in troops.

    A program created by CORE and SNCC to help increase black voting participation. on this day, a day, after the first three hundred volunteers arrive at missisipi, three young men, two white, one black go missing. This does however speead up legislation in the Civil rights bill.

  • Voting rights act of '65

    This act was signed into law on August 6, 1965, by President Lyndon Johnson. It outlawed the discriminatory voting practices adopted in many southern states after the Civil War, including literacy tests as a prerequisite to voting.
